Believe in Syracuse’s Community and Caring Initiative is being launched by our Community Service Committee. As a committee, we work to support projects that address the vital needs of the Syracuse community. We seek to promote on-going adult/youth literacy development and efforts to address the critical every-day needs of Syracuse residents.
Mission: To create purposeful philanthropic opportunities for Syracuse’s community to support their community’s essential needs.
Goals: To hold a minimum of 4 donation drives per year. Each quarter we assist a local beneficiary in attaining goods to support their efforts to promote an increased quality of life for Syracuse’s inhabitants.

Summer Youth Literacy Book Drive (K-5)

Feminine Hygiene Drive
BIS’s feminine hygiene drive offered the opportunity for the Greater Syracuse community to work together to provide vital products to low-income and homeless women and girls. The drive provided over 250 women a hygiene bag containing sanitary napkins, tampons, disposable wipes, and condoms. Additional items that were dispensed to local organizations in need included incontinence products for both males and females.
Seven organizations in Greater Syracuse benefited from BIS’s feminine hygiene drive – Vera House, The CanTeen, Hope Print, Exodus 3 Ministries, Samaritan Center, Black Nurses Rock, and Chadwick House.
Unique to BIS’s feminine hygiene drive was an effort to support female’s sexual health/hygiene. With the support of local donors as well as the CNYCF grant, BIS distributed 1,050 condoms to low-income and homeless women and teens in Greater Syracuse.
Winter Warmth Drive
Believe in Syracuse's Community & Caring Initiative's Winter Warmth Drive was a huge success. The Greater Syracuse Community came together and helped us compile 232 winter warmth supply bags for We Rise Above the Streets Recovery Outreach and the Samaritan Center. Each supply bag was filled with hand/foot warmers, a knit hat, gloves, and new socks.
